Still, fewer acres are used for farming each year and water for irrigation is limited. in this challenge, Biotechnology Centers in the world sees opportunity to develop solutions.

Biotechnology offers tools to help boost agriculture and increase food production by 100 percent. to modernize agriculture, our agricultural Biotechnology initiative brings together farmers,  educators and leaders in policy, business and science.


Agri-biotech companies produce seeds that require fewer pesticides, herbicides and  fertilizers to grow and also yield larger, higher-quality crops.


When you look at the whole range and breadth of what agricultural biotechnology can do for us, it is well beyond food on the table. Plants can now manufacture vaccines and other life-saving medicines. We have higher levels of antioxidants and other healthy compounds in fruits and vegetables.


Agri-biotech is critical to the growth of another industry, biofuels. through work with the  Biofuels Centers, farmers will soon grow the non-food crops needed to  produce alternative fuels.

The result is an energized agricultural world that is revolutionizing nutrition and food, fuel, fiber production and health. Farmers are more prosperous, and the people will have new opportunities for jobs and a higher quality of life.

For some years now, Biotech centers has combined business development and economic tools to move ideas to the market. We are now applying our model of investing in ground-breaking science and  technology to agri-biotech.

Mosquito-born zica virus Has Been Confirmed By Brazilian Health Authorities To Cause Fatal Brain-damage.

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - A link between a form of fetal brain damage and the mosquito-born zica virus has been confirmed by Brazilian health authorities on Saturday. The link between zica, first medically identified as a new disease half a century ago, and birth defects has never been made.  The virus, endemic in parts Africa, South America, Southeast Asia and some Pacific Islands, has until now been blamed for symptoms such as fever, mild headache, skin rashes, joint pain and conjunctivitis, or "red eye." Initial analysis shows that the virus can be passed to a fetus and that the fetus is at greatest risk from the virus during the first three months of pregnancy, the statements said.
